Power Technology Milestone Delivered by Specialist Services on Camp Management Project

Specialist Services, part of Centurion’s Middle East & North Africa region, has achieved a significant sustainability milestone with the successful activation of a new solar farm at the main accommodation site of a UAE-based gas field development.

Delivered as part of a wider full-scope camp management contract, the solar system is designed to operate as the camp’s primary power source – and is already reducing reliance on diesel generation.

Integrated with a smart generator setup ranging from 200KVA to 1000KVA, the hybrid system adjusts to power demand, with early data showing a marked drop in generator emissions even during peak load conditions.

With cooling demands expected to ease as seasonal temperatures drop, the solar farm is forecasted to contribute even more significantly to the camp’s total energy needs.

This forward-looking installation reinforces Specialist Services’ capabilities in delivering innovative, sustainable infrastructure for complex, remote environments – and highlights Centurion’s continued investment in low-carbon, high-performance solutions.

 

 

Specialist Services Awarded Prestigious Circular Economy Award

Specialist Services, part of Centurion’s Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region, has won the 2024 GCC Circular Economy Award.

Launched last year by a private firm in Dubai, this award promotes best practices in the circular economy across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. In its inaugural year, the award was presented in three categories: Organization, Product/Service, and Pioneering Practices – with Specialist Services winning the “Organization” accolade.

Specialist Services earned this recognition for its exceptional commitment to ESG and the circular economy. The company’s rigorous documented policies, training and communication efforts, alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12, UAE Circular Economy Policy and the implementation of a continual improvement framework contributed to its selection for the award.

Chris Ridley, President of Centurion’s MENA region (on the left), and Kevin Murphy, Vice President of Centurion’s MENA region (on the right above), attended the award ceremony alongside other management team members. Kevin delivered a keynote speech on how companies can use value engineering to maximise circularity by reducing raw material usage, extending product lifespans, and reusing materials. Chris further emphasised the importance of business circularity practices to reduce the impact of industrial development on the environment during his acceptance speech.

Specialist Services Achieves Safety Culture Ladder Certification

Specialist Services – part of Centurion’s Middle East & North Africa region – is pleased to announce the achievement of our Safety Culture Ladder (SCL) Certification.

 

SCL is a health & safety standard designed to encourage continual improvement in occupational safety awareness and safe working practices. It provides a certifiable benchmark which companies can use to assess their progress in implementing effective safety practices.

Specialist Services achieved a Safety Culture Level 3 certification in a record three months, with auditors applauding our exemplary health & safety standards and “step-by-step” approach to continuous improvement.

While this certification was required by a key renewable energy end-customer on a project-specific basis, Specialist Services went above and beyond to adopt and implement the standard across all UAE manufacturing facilities, company-wide. The certification extends to H2M Offshore Accommodation (H2M), a Centurion company, who work alongside Specialist Services.

Specialist Services Secures Major US Air Forces Contract

In-line with Centurion’s commitment to serve our customers across a broad range of industries and markets, Specialist Services, part of Centurion Middle East & North Africa, has been awarded a new contract to supply key equipment to the United States Air Forces in Europe.

Following the successful deployment of Specialist Services’ Mobile Defensive Positions to an RAF base in 2023, the team has been awarded a new contract that will see additional systems deployed across multiple RAF bases hosting US Visiting Forces (USVF).

Each defensive position comprises a 1.5×1.5m guard cabin, specially designed to be capable of withstanding Armour-piercing ammunition. They also feature defensive firing ports offering 360-degree coverage, integrated security spot lighting, and a trailer for easy deployment throughout the installation.

U.S. Army Common Base Shelters

Specialist Services has successfully completed the 20’ x 8’ 3-1 Expandable Shelters for US Army project

The US Army’s 405th Army Field Support Brigade Tele-Maintenance and Distribution Cell-Ukraine (TDC-U) selected Specialist Services, a Centurion company, to provide 3-1 expandable shelters to support their mission.

When deployed, each ISO container-based expandable shelter provides 475sqft of usable internal space and is complete with small power, data and comms. The shelters were configured to facilitate the sustainment of weapon systems being operated on the frontline in Ukraine, via remote, encrypted communication systems.

As an urgent operational requirement, we manufactured and delivered seven units in only seven weeks.

Specialist Services Exhibits at CEL 2024 In Poland

Held in Warsaw, Poland in March, attendees at the event included representatives from the government and military sectors in the region. Throughout the event, industry experts shared valuable knowledge about the latest trends in the sector through insightful seminars and discussions.

Specialist Services Exhibits at Defense Event in UAE

Specialist Services, part of Centurion Middle East & North Africa, recently exhibited at the first edition of Ajban Defense Industry and Technology Exhibition 2024.

The event took place in Abu Dhabi, UAE in February and played host to more than120 exhibitors. Among the hundreds of attendees were key representatives from a host of national and international companies serving the global defense industry.

The event provided a platform for exhibitors to showcase their capabilities and advanced technologies while allowing attendees, exhibitors and other key stakeholders to explore collaborative prospects. Generating over 1,700 commercial opportunities for local manufacturers, the exhibition directly supported the UAE’s national ‘Make it in the Emirates’ initiative and the national In-Country Value Program.

“The Ajban Defense Industry and Technology Exhibition gave us the opportunity to engage with potential clients and local manufacturers dedicated not only to advancing defense technologies and solutions, but also to build connections within the UAE. Specialist Services Supports United Nations Humanitarian Efforts in Key New Contract

A milestone humanitarian aid-related contract with the United Nations (the UN) has been completed by Specialist Services, a Centurion company, in-line with Centurion’s industry diversification ambitions.

The contract saw Specialist Services design and manufacture four ballistically protected ISO containers, to be used as part of a UN mission in the Central African Republic. Custom built for this contract, the Specialist Services team designed these innovative and purpose-built containers to meet the specific and unique requirements of UN missions. These ISO containers, designed with enhanced security and functionality,  are set to play a critical role in protecting aid workers and supporting the secure distribution of essential supplies in regions with elevated risk profiles.

This was an important contract for Specialist Services, as they continue to develop their offerings to meet the demands of global defense, humanitarian and intergovernmental organizations.
